Does the Bible Allow Kissing Before Marriage?

Paul instructed Christians to not serve meat to believers who thought that eating it was sinful, to help them avoid temptation. What was tempting for Christian A was not necessarily tempting for Christian B. We must also remember that romance is a reflection of God's heart for his people. He has given us romance as a gift, as a way of selflessly giving ourselves to others, of understanding how Christ gives himself to the church (Ephesians). On a personal level, I had set the limit that I wanted to save my first kiss for marriage with one of the men I dated.

We ended up disregarding that limit, and I can't get that first kiss back. So if someone has a limit, make sure you respect it. For example, if someone doesn't want to kiss until marriage, don't pressure them to do so until the wedding day. Ultimately, it all comes down to personal interpretation. There is no verse in the Bible that says “You shall not kiss before marriage”, but it's not like you have a green light either.

By meditating on the Bible, consulting God in prayer, and submitting to the Holy Spirit, every Christian will be able to make the right decision when it comes to kissing. Maybe you're not sure what God would say or how the Bible considers this form of physical contact not really bad. Generally speaking, people think that they should have kissed within the first few months of their date. As has been established, kissing in itself is not a sin, but if it leads you to temptation, it is best to avoid this temptation. Many of the Christian couples I've met waited until their wedding day to have their first kiss, while other Christian couples I've met didn't wait until marriage to have their first kiss.

On the other hand, it might be awkward to share your first kiss in front of everyone at your wedding reception. If kissing makes you uncomfortable or you feel like it could lead both of you to give in to temptation, be open and tell them about it. If it's a long kiss, a French kiss and especially if it goes further, if it starts with lust, everything is sinful. We need to talk more about kissing before marriage to help Christian couples know what the Bible says. The couple abstained from all sexual activity, including kissing until marriage, and they shared an awkward first kiss at their wedding ceremony. In conclusion, you'll have to face the problem of kissing, dating, and courting as a parent sooner rather than later in your parenting journey.

As I said earlier, many of my Christian friends decided to wait until their wedding day to kiss their wife or husband, while others kissed during a date, and that didn't lead them to sin. So the Bible doesn't say anything in particular about kissing before marriage, but it does say a lot about sexual immorality. While the Bible doesn't specifically talk about kissing, as is the case with romantic kisses, it does talk about sexual immorality.
