Overcoming Anxiety and Overthinking with Bible Verses

Anxiety and overthinking can be overwhelming and dangerous if we are enslaved to our sinful desires. Fortunately, the Bible provides us with words of wisdom and comfort to help us overcome these feelings. As a licensed biblical counselor, I can attest that anxiety is one of the most common issues I see with my clients. The Bible encourages us to “not worry about anything, but in every situation, through prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God” (Philippians 4:6).

This verse reminds us that we can turn to God in times of distress and He will provide us with peace that surpasses all understanding. Additionally, the Bible tells us to “think about everything that is true, honorable, just, pure, beautiful, commendable, if there is excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise” (Philippians 4:8). This verse encourages us to focus on the positive aspects of life and to practice what we have learned from the Bible. When we are feeling overwhelmed by anxiety and overthinking, it can be helpful to read some Bible verses about strength and worry.

The Bible says “The word of God is like good medicine” (Proverbs 17:22), which can be a comforting reminder that we are never alone. We can also look for Bible verses about love for an even more positive boost. If you are struggling with anxiety or overthinking, remember that the Bible provides us with words of wisdom and comfort. Take a deep breath and read some Bible quotes about worry or love for a reminder that you are never alone.
