What Does the Bible Say About Unmarried Couples?

Every person has a unique gift from God, and if they cannot control their passions, it is better to get married than to burn with desire. This means that a man will leave his parents and join his wife, and they will become one. The Bible does not condone unmarried couples living together before marriage, which includes sleeping in the same bed, living together while engaged, or living together without having sex. The single woman and the virgin are focused on the Lord's matters, to be holy in body and spirit; however, the married woman is concerned with worldly matters, such as pleasing her husband.

Those who are not married are concerned with the Lord's matters, such as how to please Him; but those who are married are concerned with worldly matters, such as how to please their wife, and their interests are divided. It is difficult to argue that God would be pleased if unmarried couples lived together, as the Bible emphasizes that a man leaves his father and mother before marrying. The single or betrothed woman is focused on the Lord's matters, such as how to be holy in body and spirit. The Bible is a guide for all people in all circumstances, addressing all basic problems of human life and providing insight into all situations.

It is tempting to have sex with your partner before marriage, so living together unmarried would not be a wise decision. The single man is concerned with the Lord's matters, such as how to please Him; but a married man is concerned with worldly matters, such as how to please his wife, and his interests are divided. The single woman or girl is focused on the Lord's matters, such as how to be holy in body and spirit; however, a married woman is concerned with worldly matters, such as pleasing her husband.
